Terms of use
These terms govern access to and use of the Spawn service, whichever plan is subscribed to.

Only the French version is legally binding. This translation is provided for information purposes.
1. Purpose
Spawn is an online service that lets you create, customise and publish a digital business card available at a public address of the form spawn.cards/u/your-handle, and export its content in a structured format.
Using the service implies full acceptance of these terms. If you disagree with them, please do not use the service.
2. User account
Creating an account requires a valid email address and a password, or the use of a Google account. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out from your account.
Sessions are kept for thirty (30) days, then expire. You can sign out at any time from your dashboard.
3. Public nature of the card
A published card is publicly accessible without authentication. It is designed to be indexed and read by third parties, in particular:
- by search engines, through JSON-LD structured markup;
- by conversational agents and crawlers, through an
llms.txtfile served for each profile; - by anyone holding the link, through the JSON, vCard (
.vcf) and QR code exports.
Only publish information you are willing to make public and reusable. A card can be unpublished at any time, but the publisher cannot guarantee the deletion of copies already made by third parties or of external caches.
4. Published content
You are solely responsible for the content published on your card and warrant that you hold the necessary rights. Unlawful, defamatory or hateful content, content infringing the rights of third parties, or impersonating a person or an organisation, is prohibited.
Cryptographic keys. The service lets you display public SSH and GPG keys. Never enter a private key: the corresponding field is meant to be published in clear text on your card.
Custom stylesheet. CSS supplied in developer mode is parsed and rejected as a whole if it contains disallowed constructs (tags, @import, insecure external resources, executable expressions). This filtering protects the service; it is neither a guarantee of rendering nor a validation of the content.
5. Pre-created profiles and claiming
The publisher may create so-called “ghost” profiles from publicly available professional information, as part of its prospecting activity. Such a profile:
- is not published until it has been claimed;
- has no sign-in credentials whatsoever, and therefore cannot be accessed by anyone until it is claimed;
- can be claimed by the person concerned through a single-use link, which then transfers full control of the profile to them.
Any person concerned may request the deletion of such a profile, without having to claim it, by writing to [TO BE COMPLETED].
6. Data processed
The service processes in particular:
- account data (email address, name, password hash);
- the profile data you enter and choose to publish;
- technical session data: a non-reversible fingerprint of your IP address (the address itself is not stored in clear text) and your user agent;
- aggregated usage statistics, and technical error logs from which secrets are stripped.
Sub-processors are involved for hosting (Cloudflare), transactional email (Resend), payment (Stripe) and, for enrichment features, a language model provider. Details are set out in the privacy policy.
7. Prohibited uses
- attempting to circumvent technical limitations, quotas or access controls;
- automating account creation, or calling the service in a way that degrades its operation;
- using the service to distribute malware or phishing;
- bulk extraction of other users' data.
8. Availability
The service is provided without any guarantee of continuous availability. Interruptions may occur for maintenance, updates, or because of an incident affecting a third-party provider.
9. Suspension and termination
You may delete your account at any time; deletion unpublishes your card and erases your data within the technically necessary timeframe.
The publisher may suspend or terminate an account in the event of a breach of these terms, after informing the user except in case of urgency or legal obligation.
10. Liability
The publisher cannot be held liable for indirect damages resulting from the use or unavailability of the service. No clause limits the publisher's liability beyond what applicable law permits, in particular in cases of gross negligence, wilful misconduct or personal injury.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may be amended. Users are informed of substantial changes by email or through a notice in the service, before they take effect.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. Failing an amicable resolution, any dispute falls within the jurisdiction of the competent courts, subject to the protective rules applicable to consumers.
